Sun sun sun IN JANUARY

Sunday 14th January and it's 11c outside sunny and dry, Global warming I’m in favour of it if it means I can get out on my bike like today. Only did just over 80 miles two up with a friend on the back but it was great, Averaged about 80ish on the open road but did let it creep up to three figures for one little bit of really quiet straight road. Its bloody January 14th just can't believe the weather has been this good today roll on the spring and summer. Keep burning those fossil fuels soon have summer days all year.

Been a while since I added to this blog, so time to update. I have along with other Triumph Sprint owners had a recal notice for a fault to the rear suspension, or rather one bolt on the suspension. Well I have had the bike to the dealers and had the job done took about 30 mins. I have not noticed any difference however the mechanic told me the bolt was indeed bent and that the suspension was starting to seize badly???. Any way it's fixed now so im happy about that. The ride to the dealers is a 40 mile round trip bt as usual it turned out to be 70+ just had to put in a little de tour as I was enjoying it so much. Hopefully I will be able to get out a little more this year and do a few longer trips. I have no intention of going overseas but Scotland sounds like a good idea in the summer some time. Fuel consumption is still hovering about the 38-40 mpg must remember to shout change more I may get it up to 40+ all the time then. How do people get 45-50 mpg out of these things , must ride like my granny.

Ok been some time since I have updated this blog so here goes. The bike is still going really well and on average still doing about 40 mpg. I have also had a front tyre fitted at 4.500 due to having a front tyre deflation. Yep at 80 mph I felt a little wobble and a few seconds later 6lb of pressure in the front scared me to death but thankfully stayed on the bike. Got it to work where the RAC plugged the tyre and I rode over to Action Motorcycles to get the new tyre, the old one possibly had 500 to 800 left in it so at least I got most of the wear out of it.
The bike has stood outside un covered for 15 months and has been ridden all the year round. I cleaned it today and as far as I can see no rust or furring anywhere. I don't clean it often enough but when I do always spray all parts with FS365 a protective spray. What I am saying is the build quality appears very good to me.

Went to Silverstone for the BSB over the weekend, prior to going, I refuelled the bike and had the following figures,
14.11 Litres, 126.4 miles, 40.76mpg, £14.07. The ride out here was with a number of other bikes and I shall call it restrained, we were over the legal limit on the a roads 70-75 but never any faster. On the way back I was with one other bike a very experienced ride he was one up I had a pillion. Shall I just say it was a very spirited ride back, I just followed in his lines which were as good as you could get and believed in the grip from the Bridgestone’s great fun on return home another refill 17.94 Litres, 168 miles, 42.61mpg, £17.49
. The better consumption can only be due to the trip there coz on the way back it would have been nowhere near 42mpg, I was in 3rd and 4th gear, 90% of the time on the way back and just cruised in 6th there. I love this bike.

Well the bike is 12 months old now and I have only done 3300 miles, thats the least in a year for 12 years. Now it's not the bikes fault it's great just that I have not had any real time to go out and ride other than to work and back. The bike went into Action Motorcycles for it's 12 month service, regardless of the low mileage. They have adjusted everything replaced the filter ect. while in I had the panniers fitted as in the photo's below and also had a new rear tyre YEP 3300 miles to illegal in the middle and worn rigth to the edge. OK so I may not go far but I do it quickly. Last refill was as follows. 18.43 Litres, 166.8 miles, 41.17mpg, £17.31

Not a lot to report the bike is still going really well and stood outsie work the other day was looked at by quite a few people who were visiting, I went out to have a chat and at least two are concidering buying the Sprint. They will be common as muck shortly. One more refuel today 15.58 Litres, 131.8 miles, 38.5 mpg, £14.95.

Well had a nice day at Silverstone yesterday for the WSB. Went with a mate on the back and his opinion is that the 1050 is better than my old 955i as far as pillion comfort is concerned. He says the rear seat is softer wider and being a little higher gives more leg room for him. To be honest the bike went well I could hardly tell he was on there due mainly to the torque. The MPG was nor really effected either I was not hanging about only one other bike overtook me GSXR 600 on his way to death, yet still got 40.1 mpg that’s 16.64 litres for 148.7 miles.
